Truth Seekers Sources for Study
2 min read“Seek and ye shall find.” (Words of Jesus from Mat. 7:7 and Luke 11:9). I challenge you (and myself): Do you have a SEEKER’S HEART? Yes, seek FIRST the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, (Mat 6:33), but then (and only then) ALL THESE ταῦτα shall be added unto you (The Greek ταῦτα doesn’t necessarily mean “things” per se, it is perhaps more inclusive to mean all the knowledge, etc. we may ever need). When we seek God, we must seek TRUTH, weeding out the tares to find the wheat, rightly discerning TRUTH (which Jesus completely encompasses and contains), and being aware that our enemy, Satan, is a liar, the father of lies, and aims to DECEIVE even the elect of God.
Truth: I don’t know LOTS of things, but it’s NOT because I don’t want to find out. Gullibility is not synonymous with inquisitiveness nor skepticism. The trouble with me: I “wanted to find out” badly enough that I found ways to circumvent the typical ways to find out. Challenge: Are you aware of ways to do this? If not, this reveals that you truly don’t want to know, that you don’t have a truth-seeker’s heart, and you elevate your risk of being deceived. If you want to learn how, I can help. If you’re okay with maintaining your status quo, scroll on.
Lots of my friends truly don’t want to “find out” because when they find out just a little bit, the cognitive dissonance overwhelms them quickly. “You can get all the information you want. So, if anybody these days doesn’t know, it’s not because the information’s not available. It’s not what you know. It’s what you could know if you wanted to find out.” – Holocaust survivor Dr. Gabor Maté. I’ll append Dr. Maté’s thought and add, “If you don’t experience cognitive dissonance regularly, you don’t want to find out what’s available to learn.”
Other friends are convinced I’ve dropped off the deep end into insanity simply because they never opened the cans of worms they inevitably encountered. It’s easier to simply discount me and put me in the box of a gullible Conspiracy Theorist than it is to consider that, as valedictorian of a Metro-Atlanta High School with a Master’s degree, I’m not as stupid or gullible as they might think.
Other friends are merely content to be Jim Carey in a Shuman Show of their own creation.
